THE PUBLIC EDUCATION AWARD


The public education award recognizes federation members for significant accomplishments in promoting awareness and understanding of water environment issues among the general public, through the development and implementation of public education programs.

There are three categories for this award: Individual, Member Association and Other.

  1. Individual - Recognizes an individual Federation member who has made a significant contribution to the public education effort, promoting awareness and understanding of water environment issues among the general public, through the development and implementation of public education programs.

  2. Member Association - Recognizes the Member Association which has made a significant contribution to the public education effort, promoting awareness and understanding of water environment issues among the general public, through the development and implementation of public education programs.

  3. Other - Recognizes organizations, groups of individuals, events, campaigns, or other persons or efforts that make a significant contribution to the public education effort, but that do not fit categories I. or II.


Criteria:
(The criteria is the same for each catagory)

  1. Documented achievements of public education activities in the water environment field.

  2. Identification and description of exceptional efforts to educate the public on water environment issues.

  3. The activity or effort must have been implemented within the two years immediately prior to nomination. Specific programs are eligible for nomination only once.

  4. Must be members of the Water Environment Federation.

  5. Entries must include:

    1. A detailed narrative description of the activities or efforts, including the objective and results.
    2. Ten copies of associated program materials.
    3. Documented evidence of the program's accomplishments.

Submit:

  • Nomination Form
  • One page biography of the nominee
  • Specific reasons for nomination (one page maximum)
  • Any other supporting material required under Criteria or that you feel would be helpful in the selection process.

The use of videotapes and/or audio tapes is discouraged. If you submit this type of nomination material, you must include the specified number of copies.

Member Associations

 

Nomination Deadline:

Ten copies of nomination materials should reach the Water Environment Federation Awards Department by April 1.
