PUBLIC EDUCATION AWARD PROGRAM

The Certificate for Participation in the Adopt-a-School program may be granted annually to one or more individuals who meet the criteria. The Award for Outstanding Participation in the Adopt-a-School program may be granted annually to one or more individuals who meet the criteria.

Awards for the Adopt-a-School program will be selected by the Public Education Committee (PEC) and shall be based on the criteria described below. Adopt-a-School sponsors shall notify the PEC, in writing by June 1st. Sponsors shall submit the following information to the PEC for their consideration by the end of the school year:

• The name of the school.
  
• The schools address and telephone number.
  
• The name of a contact at the school.
  
• The name of the school district.
  
• The name of the sponsor. The sponsor must be an active member of the IWEA.
  
• A list of the activities or information that the sponsor provided or arranged. These activities must be consistent with the goals and interest of the IWEA. Activities must be described with sufficient detail for the PEC to review.

Certificate for Participation in the Adopt-a-School program

This certificate may be presented annually to any one whom, in the opinion of the PEC has met the qualifications.
This certificate shall be based on the following considerations:

1. Sponsor must be an active member of IWEA.
   
2. Recipient school must be an accredited school in the state of Indiana.
   
3. Sponsor and school must complete one of the following activities:
   
   • Students must tour a wastewater treatment plant or similar facility.
   • Sponsor, or their representative(s), must meet with students to discuss topics relating to the water environment.
   • A copy of the WEF Sourcebook (grade appropriate) must be presented to and used by the school.
   • Any activity, which is consistent with IWEA objectives, in the judgment of the PEC.

Plaque for Award for Outstanding Participation in the Adopt-a-School program

This award may be presented annually to any one whom, in the opinion of the PEC has met the qualifications.

This award shall be based on the following considerations:

   • Students must tour a wastewater treatment plant or similar facility.
   • Sponsor, or their representative(s), must meet with students to discuss topics relating to the water environment.
   • A copy of the WEF Sourcebook (grade appropriate) must be presented to and used by the school.
   • Any activity, which is consistent with IWEA objectives, in the judgment of the PEC.
