Besozzi Delegate and Scholarship Program
"Similar to other Member Associations, the Indiana Young
Professionals Committee developed a scholarship and grant
program titled the "IWEA-Besozzi Scholarship" and
"Besozzi Youth Delegate Grant" to accomplish three goals;
(1) to provide the financial means for an operator, who has never
attended the IWEA Annual Conference, an opportunity to attend,
(2) to provide a financial means for students in Indiana universities
and technical schools to continue pursuing degrees or certifications
in the water environment field, and (3) to recognize the financial
and professional contributions of Leo Besozzi to IWEA and the water
environment profession. The youth delegate and scholarship recipients
are required to gather information on innovative and cost effective
water pollution control methods and to relay that information to their
communities, as part of their qualifications requirements.
The Besozzi Youth Delegates qualify based on meeting criteria
above and are nominated by Indiana’s operator associations on a
rotating basis using the following order:
CIOA – 2006
IIOA – 2007
NIOA – 2008
NWIOA – 2009
SIOA – 2010
You must satisfy the following criteria in order to be eligible
for the IWEA-Besozzi scholarship:
Attend school in Indiana, full or part-time, for a certification or degree (i.e. technical, vocational, bachelors, masters, or PhD);
Have completed, at least, the equivalent to one year in college; and
Enrolled in study related to the water pollution control industry.

Donations for IWEA-Besozzi Scholarship
IWEA is in the process of collecting donations for the IWEA - Besozzi
Scholarship to be given annually to an Indiana student pursuing a
certification or degree related to the water environment.
All monies collected will be placed in a scholarship fund managed by the
IWEA Board of Directors. Applicants will be evaluated by the Young
Professionals Committee based upon the above criteria and an application
package.
Donations at all levels are appreciated and show your support for the next
generation of water environment professionals. Donations can come in two forms:
CORPORATE or PRIVATE and all donations are tax deductible.
