Indiana Water Environment Association

72nd Annual Conference
November 18 – 20, 2008

Marriott Hotel East
7202 East 21st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana
Conference Theme: "Tools for the Trade"

The Annual Conference Committee for the 72nd Annual Conference of the Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA) is soliciting abstracts for the annual conference scheduled for November 18-20, 2008 at the Marriott East in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Those interested in presenting a paper are invited to submit an abstract. Any topic related to the wastewater field will be considered. However, the focus of the conference this year is on training and useful tips. Abstracts that most closely adhere to the theme of the conference will be given first priority regarding selection for the following sessions:

Plant Operations & Maintenance
Laboratory Functions
Residuals Management
Safety
Collection Systems

All other abstracts are still welcomed and encouraged, and will have the opportunity for presentation during the other sessions at the conference. Other session topics include:

Stormwater & Watershed Management
Case Studies
Products & Services
Pretreatment & Industrial Process Control
Legal and Regulatory Issues
Utility Management
Research & Development

All sessions will be 25 minutes in length. Please be prepared to cover the time requirement if your paper is selected for presentation.

TRAVEL AND LODGING:

Please note the IWEA cannot reimburse travel or lodging expenses for speakers. However, we offer complimentary registration and lunch for the day of the presentation.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:

Abstracts should be no more than 200 – 300 words in length and submitted by posting them via this form.

Abstracts, along with accompanying "Speaker Information Sheets", must be received no later that May 23, 2008. Please note that the May 23rd deadline is firm.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CONTACT HOURS:

IWEA has always received Continuing Education (CE) Credit approval for all sessions at the Conference from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). All of the requested information posted on the web is essential in obtaining that approval. Additionally, it is imperative that the abstracts submitted are prepared with sufficient detail for IDEM to determine whether they will offer either "technical" or "general" CE approval for your session, should you be selected.

We will continue the policy started at last year’s conference of "no late entry" into sessions. From a presenter’s standpoint, it means that you simply must start your presentation on time and end it on time. Room monitors once again will be instructed to let presenters know when they have 10 minutes remaining, then 5. If the presenter is not finished when the end of the session occurs, the monitor will politely but firmly announce that the session has ended. Please keep this in mind when preparing your presentation, including any question and answer sessions your presentation must not exceed 25 minutes.

If you have any questions concerning this request or the Annual Conference, please contact Libby Denehie at the IWEA office at (317) 328-2151. Thank you for your continued interest in and support of IWEA.

Sincerely

Brenda Stephanoff, Chair
Annual Conference Committee
